Here’s another picture which has adorned my desktop for a long time & for a fairly obvious reason; when you’re at work & you hit the 3pm wall, it helps to be able to at least pretend you’re able to work properly by continuing to stare at your computer screen, then its simply a matter of waggling the mouse a bit & bashing the odd key. In the very least the look of interest you present won’t be fake, even if it is mistaken for an interest in work content! It’s for the aforementioned reasons that I love these cast of character backgrounds, they’re almost endless fun!

So enjoy this weeks background & think of me at 3pm as you reacquaint yourself with the cast of Futurama! …read more

This week’s Wednesday Weekly Wallpaper features the first still shot taken from the upcoming film adaptation of John Marsden’s Tomorrow When The War Began novels which Owen spoke about recently. In this picture we can see actors Deniz Akdeniz & Caitlin Stasey as they portray Homer Yannos & Ellie Linton respectively on a reconnaissance mission overlooking Wirrawee Bridge.

Synopsis: When a group of high school friends go camping in an area of bush land best known to the locals simply as Hell - a nook which supposedly once played home to a murderous hermit, they return to find their homes deserted & families missing & soon discover that their country has been invaded by an unknown force. The teenager’s first thoughts are to find their families, but how & what then?

This Wednesday’s Weekly Wallpaper is from Assassin’s Creed 2.

Even though, our full review of the game will be up on the site this week. It’s safe to say the Ubisoft Montreal have definitely delivered on most of their promises when facing the criticism of the original game.

How do you feel about the sequel? …read more

This weeks weekly wallpaper comes to you via the extremely addictive game Torchlight.

Do you miss the sleepless nights of searching for loot and enemies to slay in Diablo? If so, then Torchlight from Runic Games is the next game that you should purchase from Steam. Torchlight is a brilliantly addictive game, that features the same loot collecting game play that Diablo featured and a much brighter and more cartoon based art direction.

If you don’t have it, get it.

In the meantime, enjoy this Torchlight wallpaper. …read more

This week I have begun reading the Marv Wolfman novel Crisis on Infinite Earths which is the novelisation of the story that both he & George Perez wrote in comic book form (of which I also have a copy & will read shortly after I’ve knocked over the novel so expect reviews in the upcoming weeks).

Despite only being a few chapters into the book which was first released in 2006, I am already enthralled as Wolfman’s style of storytelling puts you right into the characters mindset allowing you to quickly relate to the story as it unfolds.

So before I bang on about the book too much ahead of time, let me wet your beak with this beautiful wallpaper which features artwork by none other than Alex Ross (I can’t seem to get away from the AR archives huh?)

I just know you’ll be staring at this one for a LONG time - enjoy! …read more

You’ll never know how close we came to having this as the WWW this week. Fresh off a weekend at Armageddon, full of glomping & “free hugs” signs I have to say that I’m feeling a little theatrical.

However, I have restrained myself & have instead selected the Alex Ross painting which adorns the cover of the Geoff Johns & Jerry Ordway comic, Justice Society of America # 23 as well as the TPB titled Black Adam and Isis which collects each issue in this story arc.

Even after reading only a few pages of Black Adam and Isis, I soon became disappointed in what the comic had to offer. Personally, I’ve always struggled with reading JSA comics as for me, they have always read more like the grandparents of the JLA i.e. old-fashioned & dated. So, whilst the premise of Johns’ story is a good one, in my eyes it plays out in a cheesy, typical JSA fashion that leaves you with the same feeling you get after watching Happy Days. …read more

“Accept me into your hearts…or I will bite thine heads off.”

Here’s another quote for you, this time from a friend of mine that pretty much sums up my feelings on this one, “The internet…unlimited knowledge at your finger tips, yet somehow, people keep getting stupider!”

So who is Raptor Jesus you may ask? Here are the words of the lizard lord straight from the uncyclopedia.

“Raptor Jesus, roamed the Earth circa 90,000,000,000-65,000,000,000 BHC (Before Human Christ). He was born when God Himself was still only a teenager. His execution is thought to be the cause of the extinction of the RaPtOrOsaAuRs.” …read more

This weeks WWW features the BBC3 series Being Human, the television series which tells the story of a vampire, a werewolf & a ghost living together in a town house in Bristol as they try their best to reclaim that which once made them human.

Being Human is a fantastic series with the right mix of horror, drama & the black sense of humour which the British are so well known for. …read more

This weeks WWW features the Terry Gilliam creation The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus which is the last film Heath Ledger ever worked on prior to his tragic death which occurred whilst the film was still in production. For a film that could quite easily have never been, it has now been finished with the aid of fellow actors & companions Johnny Depp, Jude Law & Colin Farrell who stepped in to complete Heath’s role with all earnings for the role going to Heath’s daughter Matilda.

I suppose that it is strange that despite the focus of this film being squarely aimed at Heath ledger that I should choose a photo of Jude Law as he plays the role of Tony (2nd Transformation), but in another sense it could be quite fitting …read more
