Last night we were lucky enough to get an invite to the Melbourne leg of the Xbox Insider Tour at Billboards. Even though a full write-up of the event will be live on the site in the next few days, let’s just say that we got a quick look at games like Avatar, Assassins Creed 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction.

Avatar Developers Diary #1

Ryan spoke recently about the upcoming film and game - James Cameron’s Avatar. Ubisoft have just released the first Developer Diary for the game and in usually Ubisoft fashion, the diary is slick, informative and does builds the hype for the game quite well.

‘Avatar’ Game Trailer

Avatar is a movie that I’ve been keeping an eye on for a number of reasons. For most the name James Cameron would be reason enough to raise an eyebrow of interest, but for me, as ever - I’m looking for a strong story line - something new & unique & from what little glimpses are available of the film, it looks like it may deliver for whilst the plot looks obvious, at least it will be enjoyable.

Admittedly though, it wasn’t until I saw the official Ubisoft game trailer (see below) that I actually started to get excited about the film for when you compare the two you can see exact scenes taken from the film & transposed into the game itself. So before you take a look at the game trailer below, I suggest you visit the official Avatar movie site here to first view the film trailer.

More than this though, one word will sum up why I’m now looking forward to getting my hands on this game & that is, “Mechs!” I’ve been complaining for a long time that there haven’t been any decent mech games for a while & especially after playing Red Faction, I’ve wanted more - well now I’ve got it! …read more

Splinter Cell games have always been rather hit and miss with me. At first, I would find the games fun but they would grow old quite quickly. Probably due to the frustration of always getting caught.

Ubisoft have revealed further details on Assassins Creed 2. The sequel to 2007’s Assassins Creed, which while still a successful game, still had its downfalls.

The press release issued today by Ubisoft Australia provides further detail of the main character Ezio.

“AUSTRALIA – April 17, 2009 – Today Ubisoft announced that Ubisoft Montréal is developing Assassin’s Creed II on all current-generation platforms for a scheduled Christmas 2009 launch.
