Late last week Excelsior! the makers of three of the major comic apps for the iPhone/iPod Touch announced that they would be bringing Marvel Comics to their apps for the very first time, only problem is, is that the service is currently only available for US customers.
The first Marvel Comics to be made initially available via the apps will be Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men, Robert Kirkman’s Marvel Zombies miniseries, the first 30 issues of Ed Brubaker’s Captain America and X-23 and X-Men: Age of Apocalypse. …read more

Ladies and Gentlemen.
This weeks iGaming feature is brought to you by Dylan Burns. Dylan runs the amazing Pixel Hunt, a free electronic video games magazine. If you haven’t already, check it out here.
Having just discovered the pleasures of iGaming, I’m of two minds regarding the games that have so far been available for the iPhone and iPod Touch. On the one hand, the plethora of games that utilise the iPhone’s touch screen and tilt/shake-sensitive abilities offer a welcome distraction during the monotonous workday. But on the other, it seems to me like there’s untapped potential for developers to create deeper experiences on the platform. …read more

In this weeks iGaming, we will be looking at Redlynx’s latest iPhone offering, DrawRace. Which as far as I’m concerned, is destined to be listed among classic iPhone games such as Peggle and Flight Control when it comes to value/gameplay.
DrawRace sees the player taking the wheel in 20+ levels of “draw and drive” competition. Similar to Flight Control, the path that your car will drive is determined by the path that you draw, though DrawRace works a little differently in the way that you can control the speed that the car drives by drawing slower or quicker. This control method comes in handy when you are navigating the car around tight corners or are speeding down a stretch of straight road. This allows for some great driving action and some very addictive gameplay. …read more

Welcome to this weeks instalment of iGaming. Where we take a brief but informative look at some of the games that are available on the iPhone/iPod Touch.
This week we take a look at Must.Eat.Birds and Zombies Me.
Must.Eat.Birds:
Ok, before I start talking about the crazed insanity that is Must.Eat.Birds, you will need to know the definition of the word “nom”. So, let’s take a quick trip over to Urban Dictionary for one of the many examples of the word. …read more

Well, it’s the start of another week, which means that it is also time for another iGaming installment in which we quickly summarise several iPhone/iPod Touch games. Due to a shorter timeframe this week, we will only be looking at one game: Doom Resurrection.
Doom is a household name when it comes to video games, being one of the most widely celebrated first person shooters of its time. I was a little unsure about what to expect when I loaded up the game for the first time. Would it be just an iPhone version of the classic Doom game? ID did this for Wolfenstein 3D, in the end it worked quite well but as it turns out Doom Resurrection is a completely new adventure, set in the Doom universe and exclusive to the iPhone/iPod Touch. …read more

Archmage Defense:
Once in a while you come across what can be called a gaming “gem”. A game that may not have initially looked like it would have been something rather special, but you decided to give it a shot anyway and it now has you by its firm grip of sheer greatness. This is how I came to find “Archmage Defense” on the iPhone. I saw it listed on the appstore for $1.19 and decided to check it out. You see, my eye was caught by its art style which is very similar to games like Castle Crashers and similar titles available on Xbox LIVE’s Arcade Marketplace. …read more

In what seems to be a good day for iPhone app updates we now have another on our hands. This time it is for 1337pmn’s INXES Xbox Live Friends app.
We reviewed the application quite a while back now, and it’s great to see that it is still being supported and updated. This update fixes a few stability problems and also prepares the app for the push notifications installation that will be released soon through another update. …read more

Mass Effect: Galaxies, was recently released for the iPhone. A lot of people (myslef included) experienced a few bugs in the game that caused the frame rate to drop severely. I originally thought that this was due to the game stressing the 3G hardware, but after seeing the same thing happen on a 3GS, it’s definitely a software problem.
Luckily the game has now been updated and it looks like the issue has been resolved! …read more

Mobile gaming never really took off for me. Which does surprise me, seeing as I’ve worked in the industry for years. Long enough to see the launch of products such as the monstrosity that was the Nokia N-Gage, to the latest handset that you could very well be using right now - the mobile phone as a gaming platform, to me, just didn’t click.
Then, Apple released the iPhone.
The first iPhone (due to the lack of the App store) wasn’t fully exposed as the gaming platform that it current one is today. Though, games like Tap Tap Tap hinted at what the future would hold for the iPhone. …read more
