Late last week Excelsior! the makers of three of the major comic apps for the iPhone/iPod Touch announced that they would be bringing Marvel Comics to their apps for the very first time, only problem is, is that the service is currently only available for US customers.

The first Marvel Comics to be made initially available via the apps will be Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men, Robert Kirkman’s Marvel Zombies miniseries, the first 30 issues of Ed Brubaker’s Captain America and X-23 and X-Men: Age of Apocalypse. …read more

[Preview] Mass Effect: Redemption #1

By Trevor October 15, 2009

Mass Effect 2, the sequel to the incredibly popular SCI-FI RPG, Mass Effect, will soon be upon us. As quite a few games have done lately, Bioware will team up with Dark Horse Comics and will be releasing a comic to tell part of the story that is essential to the understanding of the events leading into the sequel.

It’s probably the worst kept bit of information on the internet now, but in the beginning of Mass Effect 2, Commander Shepard, the protagonist from the first game, is missing and the events that occur during this time are told in this comic book series.

Comic Book Resources have several preview pages for the first issue of the series and they look very nice indeed.

You can check them out here.

Covered Blog

By Trevor September 15, 2009

For those among us that hold on to their childhood comics due to their classic nature you may want to check out a blog that has been named on a few comic forums on the internet.

Covered Blog, is a collection of people that have redrawn classic and current covers for some of the worlds most famous comic book characters. From Superman, Batman, Spider-Man and Action Comics. It’s really interesting to see what changes people have made when they were given the chance to draw their own covers.

While some look really good, there a few there that obviously wouldn’t make the cut in a published scenario, all in all though, it’s great fun!

Check out Covered here.

Spider-man Turn Off the Dark

By Michelle April 8, 2009

So, you may have heard that 2010 will see a stage version of Spider-man hit Broadway. This version will be directed by Julie Taymor (Across The Universe, Frida, The Lion King on Broadway) with music and lyrics by U2’s Bono and The Edge. That’s right, music and lyrics by Bono and The Edge. I don’t know about you, but I can’t see how this could be anything but horrible. If you feel differently and fancy yourself in one of the lead rolls, open calls are currently being held in the US.
