Death Knight is the latest offering from Tokyopop and Warld of Warcrafts collabaration. I details the story of Thassarian, whom Alliance players in World of Warcraft, will be very familiar with, and for the Horde players out there, Koltira, your Thassarian is also present in the manga.

It’s clear that a lot of time and effort has gone into writing this manga, which not only details the history of Thassarian, before and after becoming a Death Knight. We also see other key events in World of Warcraft Lore, before Thassarian frees himself from the Lich King. As we follow the story of Thassarian his story follows that of players of World of Warcraft, on the alliance side, landing in the Borean Tundra, and travelling to Zul’ Drak. Thassarians movements around Northrend mirror the players experience in Northrend, his quests are ones that players travelling throughout Northrend have completed!

The manga was really enjoyable, and it will be interesting to see in the next volume where Thassarians story takes him. Knowing how particular World of Warcraft is about the surronding materials released, fitting with the Lore of the game, means that the material is really strong. and the art looks fantastic easily bringing the look and feel of World of Warcraft to the page. This is definitely worth a look and in a game were the lore is so rich this manga simply dioesn’t dissapoint, providing a strong tale, of one of the games most interesting classes.
