All right, this is where my usual positivity battles against my 80’s, grunge influenced childhood.

Activision have announced that Kurt Cobain will be playable in Guitar Hero 5 as one of the five exclusive in-game artists & to be honest, I’m not sure how that sits with me. Part of me says it doesn’t really matter anymore & that it was inevitable so have a table spoon of cement & HTFU, but still part of me thinks that this isn’t exactly in-keeping with Courtney Love’s public announcement to fans back in 2006 when she sold 25% of her Nirvana shares (but not simply to the highest bidder or so she claims), ”We are going to remain very tasteful and true to the spirit of Nirvana while taking the music to places it has never been before.” But we never really fell for that anyway did we?

Since earlier this year pictures aimed at shocking Nirvana fans & people in general who have an ounce of humanity in them have already begun circulating (see below) & people have already voiced strong opinions against these. …read more

[Feature] Friday Film Clip: Dark Void

By Ronny August 28, 2009

“Capes are for wussies!”

Bold words there from Darkvoid developers Capcom - especially around this website!

Welcome to your inaugural Friday Film Clip on Medianator.com where I will be posting a clip each week whether it be the latest game trailer, motion comic or simply something funny that I stumbled across on youtube. To get us started, this weeks Friday Film Clip is the game trailer for Dark Void - AKA The Rocketeer 2099.

This game looks like it could be a lot of fun & the promotion for it certainly has a cool theme behind it which is doing its job of sucking me in more. Take a look around the official website (link below) & the captions for images & clips etc will soon have you chuckling along.

If you’re interested in forgoing todays bulky ferrari or BMW & would like to get a literal, run-up, jump & take-off on traffic during your morning commute, then why not stroll through the Dark Void show room here & look at the latest in jet pack technology? Be warned though, you’d be surprised how much bug splatter your car saves you from on a daily basis - ‘Oh no, all over the Armani suit’! …read more

Recently I was lucky enough to get quite a lot of game play time with RETDC & I’ll freely admit that my initial reaction - was surprise.

Whilst at first glance RETDC could simply be another House of The Dead or bizarro world version of Duck Hunt, after only a few minutes of hands on action with the game, you’ll realise that its not - its something new entirely. …read more

Okay, so this weeks Wednesday Weekly Wallpaper came about (as ever) in a roundabout way. As is usual, my wake up song ‘The Failsafe’ by Misery Signals got me thinking that I should find a cool picture of them for you, but alas from what pictures I could find, nothing really struck me as worthy of a WWW. So then through a little game of Kevin Bacon as follows; Misery Signals-The Failsafe-Mirrors Album-Gaming-Mirrors Edge we arrived here with this fantastic piece of art!

Mirrors edge is a game that I find myself replaying often & yet not as much as I would like. A highly successful game, Mirrors Edge ticked a lot of boxes as it offered a freedom of movement from a FPS perspective which put you right into the action of the game. Mirrors Edge also offered a world built upon an original concept & with in-game graphics that were so realistic & yet which also displayed cartoon cinematics during cut scenes, it seemed to have a little something for everyone. But what stood out for me was that our protagonist, Faith, was capable of finishing the entire game & beating down armed enemies, without once firing a round herself. (Terror nearly exploded when he made it to all but the last level without using a weapon before disarming an enemy & accidentally firing off a random shot which cost him the ‘Test of Faith’ game achievement - I got some interesting texts that night which if displayed in a cartoon would have looked a little something like this &*%$@ @*&^*$ (&Y$( *(@$^^*@$^@!!!!!!!) You can read Terror’s Mirrors Edge review on Medianator here. …read more

‘Avatar’ Game Trailer

By Ronny August 26, 2009

Avatar is a movie that I’ve been keeping an eye on for a number of reasons. For most the name James Cameron would be reason enough to raise an eyebrow of interest, but for me, as ever - I’m looking for a strong story line - something new & unique & from what little glimpses are available of the film, it looks like it may deliver for whilst the plot looks obvious, at least it will be enjoyable.

Admittedly though, it wasn’t until I saw the official Ubisoft game trailer (see below) that I actually started to get excited about the film for when you compare the two you can see exact scenes taken from the film & transposed into the game itself. So before you take a look at the game trailer below, I suggest you visit the official Avatar movie site here to first view the film trailer.

More than this though, one word will sum up why I’m now looking forward to getting my hands on this game & that is, “Mechs!” I’ve been complaining for a long time that there haven’t been any decent mech games for a while & especially after playing Red Faction, I’ve wanted more - well now I’ve got it! …read more

Cowboy Ninja Viking: its not often that you get to say those words together & expect them to mean something but they do - something magnificent!

I’m just blown away by Image comics at the moment, its outstanding to see an independant publisher taking a chance & embracing such fresh ideas that are so left of centre that you can’t imagine that they’d be picked up by some of the more mainstream names despite their obvious appeal. But it certainly has worked, just look at Chew & The Walking Dead - these comics have both experienced an enormous success & have each gone into reprint (a number of times) before heading onto bigger & better things as previously reported.

Now comes Cowboy Ninja Viking …read more
