Way back in the later stages of 2007 Progressive Boink published an article - better defined as a rant or wicked burn - about Rob Liefeld, one of the founding members of Image comics who have received a bit of press here on Medianator in the past week or so.

The article is prefaced with this warning (and an all-time quote worth remembering for future insults): “The most important thing you need to know before reading about all the terrible things Rob Liefeld has drawn is that he has never seen or talked to a woman in his life and has no idea what they look like or how their bodies operate. If you asked Rob Liefeld to draw a diagram of the uterus he’d put on a pair of gauntlets and punch the shit out of your chalkboard. …read more

Image United - Due November

By Ronny July 30, 2009

You may remember in last weeks article on Mayhem that I spoke about how Image comics got started & a little bit about its founding fathers. Well in some of the biggest news since they first hit the ground running all those years ago 6 of the 7 original partners are set to release a crossover mini-series set for release this November. A preview comic was shown over the weekend at SDCC & had fans salivating. The New York Times recently released a full page article on this auspicious event - excerpts to follow:

“IMAGE UNITED is akin to a Beatles reunion,” The New York Times wrote. “This six-issue comic-book series, which will be previewed at Comic-Con International in San Diego on Wednesday, brings together six of the seven founders of Image Comics— a group of prominent illustrators who defected from Marvel in 1992 to start their own publishing company— as well as some of the most successful characters they have created or developed there.” …read more

If there was ever a character that deserved his own beat-em-up it was Rorschach. With his ferocious fighting styles, homicidal tendencies and disdain to all that dare to tread immoral ground. The Watchmen and the Beat-Em-Up genre could really be the perfect mix. Couldn’t they?

With the release of the Watchmen film it was the perfect chance for Deadline Games to release a Watchmen game that takes place before the events of the movie and also give us a bit more insight into two main characters featured in said movie. Watchmen: The End Is Nigh Compilation collects the two episodes that are also available separately via XBLM or PSN on the one disc for a pretty decent price point of $49.95 and even though a lot of you may have already played Episode 1 of Watchmen: The End Is Nigh as it was released back in March as downloadable content …read more

[Review] Sims 3

By Michelle July 28, 2009

Well, our Sims 3 review is finally here. For those of you who have had the pleasure of indulging in this multi million selling franchise will know, it’s not a game you can play over a couple of days and feel comfortable in giving a fair and complete summary. But alas, several weeks have passed and it is now time to gather my thoughts and get on with it.

So, I should mention first that I’ve not played either of the two previous Sims games, so I went into this with fresh eyes and no expectations carried over from past experiences. The only real down side to this was that I was probably a little bit slower at picking up the basics, nothing that a few hours in front of the computer couldn’t fix though, and I soon figured out all the ins and outs of daily life for a Sim.

You are given a few different choices when beginning a new game; you can choose to create your own Sims (which I was caught up with quite some time), choose an existing household or move a household into a house or lot. If you decide to go with an existing household or to move a family in to a house or lot, you won’t be given the same opportunities to mould you Sims both physically and in terms of their personalities but it can be a fun way to just jump on into the game without all the preparation. …read more

Why do you replay games?

Could it be that you want to get all the achievements/trophies to further your Gamerscore/trophy collection? Do you want to attack the gameplay from a different perspective? Do you want to be good this time instead of evil?

The reason I ask this, is that I could probably count the games that I have replayed on both hands. …read more

Pixel Hunt: The Games of 2010.

By Trevor July 28, 2009

One of the main things that I have noticed in the year that Medianator has been running. Is that the Australian games community fucking rules. Now, I believe I have always been exposed to this fact, but with people like Dylan and Co over at Pixel Hunt it’s hard not to be blown away by their dedication and passion for the art of the video game and the industry itself.

As we mentioned previously, Pixel Hunt is a free monthly gaming magazine, that is available in PDF format and packed with fantastic content and honest reviews. As if that wasn’t enough to get your taste buds all excited, the guys over at Pixel Hunt have something very special planned for their loyal fans. …read more

Welcome to this weeks instalment of iGaming. Where we take a brief but informative look at some of the games that are available on the iPhone/iPod Touch.

This week we take a look at Must.Eat.Birds and Zombies Me.

Must.Eat.Birds:

Ok, before I start talking about the crazed insanity that is Must.Eat.Birds, you will need to know the definition of the word “nom”. So, let’s take a quick trip over to Urban Dictionary for one of the many examples of the word. …read more
